Yesterday (8 Sept), C and I went for the Cheering OT (Orientation) for the 고연전 (or Koyeon Games) at the Hwa Jeong Tiger Dome! Well, if you’re from Yonsei, you’d call it 연고전 or Yeonko Games but doesn’t Koyeon sound so much more nicer? Also, we’ve got free food and drinks along ChamSaRi-gil (the most happening street near Anam Station) on Saturday! Doesn’t that sound SO AWESOME already?! There’s Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Baskin Robbins as well as Dunkin Donuts but I’m not sure if those are free too, lol. But the graduate students paid for everything so we can celebrate OUR VICTORY! hoho ;D
Anyway, when we entered the Tiger Dome (that’s where SNSD’s first official fanmeeting will be held on 26 Sept!) and it was almost like a rock concert!! They had something like disco lights on and those pyrotechnics!
The 응원단 (cheering group) was decked in their Cosplay-like costumes teaching all the students the cheers and actions to the songs they were gonna use. Everyone, including the exchange students were really enthusiastic and it was a whole different experience just following the actions and feeling patriotic for the school once again. Never felt so loyal to my school since JC days!
The schedule for the 고연전 are as follows
Sept 10 (Friday)
10am – Opening Ceremony (Jamshil Baseball Stadium)
11am – Baseball (Jamshil Baseball Stadium)
3pm – Basketball (Jamshil Indoor Gymnasium)
4pm – Ice Hockey (Ilsan 어울림누리)
Sept 11 (Saturday)
11am – Rugby (Mokdong Complex)
1pm – Soccer (Mokdong Complex)
KUBA’s bringing us to 3 of the matches, baseball tomorrow and rugby and soccer on Saturday. I can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere and shout, “GO!GO!KODAE!” ;D and wear RED!!
So here are some pics from the Cheering OT
We had to climb many slopes.. uphill and downhill..
Thats the pyrotechnics over there. Pretty cool huh!
The cheering team in their Cosplay-ish costumes! The group leader is the girl standing in front.
The cheers were really involving and everyone would have their arms around each other and just jump and chant in the fun and enthusiasm for KU’s sportsmen! Everyone was doing the dance and even though we barely knew the moves and looked like crazy people flailing our arms about, it was still so fun cos all of us were just laughing along and enjoying ourselves!
Once it ended, we thought we had to wait for tickets so we cam-whored to kill time, in the end, I think our OGL was a little disorganized and made us wait for an hour for nothing. oh wells.
